The Author

Emmett Blackwood grew up on the edge of the desert, where the sky was wide enough to hold both the past and the future. He spent his childhood reading Louis L'Amour under one arm and Isaac Asimov under the other, convinced that the two belonged together.
After years working as a historian and a technical writer, he finally sat down to write the book he'd been carrying in his head for a decade: a story about a man from 1867 who wakes up in the 25th century, and what that collision of worlds reveals about both.
The Dust of Ages is his debut novel. He is already at work on the second book in the series.
He lives somewhere between the past and the future, which is to say: in the present, doing his best.
Emmett writes at the intersection of historical fiction and science fiction, where the grit of the frontier meets the vastness of the cosmos.
Every book is grounded in meticulous historical research. The 1867 New Mexico Territory in The Dust of Ages is as accurate as the 25th century is imaginative.
